- Location data: your device's location, which is used to show nearby safety reports, safety scores, and to power features such as journey check-ins and live location sharing with Trusted Circles.
- User Content: incident reports, comments, and other content you submit to the Service.
- Device and usage data: device identifiers, app version, log data, and information about how you interact with the Service.
- Communications: messages you send us, including through the Contact page or email.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including crowdsourced reporting, predictive analytics, and safety alerts;
- Generate safety scores and heatmaps by aggregating and, where appropriate, anonymizing user reports;
- Enable features such as Trusted Circles, journey check-ins, and emergency assistance;
- Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support requests;
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent, false, or abusive reports;
- Improve and develop new features for the Service.
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:
- With other users, when you choose to share your location or status through Trusted Circles or similar features;
- In aggregated or anonymized form, such as community safety scores and heatmaps that do not identify you individually;
- With service providers who help us operate the Service (such as cloud hosting and analytics providers), under confidentiality obligations;
- With emergency contacts you designate, when you use emergency assistance features;
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SafeNG, our users, or the public.
4. Location Data
Location data is central to how SafeNG works. You can control location permissions through your device settings at any time. Disabling location access may limit or disable certain features, such as nearby alerts, safety scores for your area, and live location sharing.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and User Content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us; we may retain anonymized or aggregated data that no longer identifies you.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can also update or delete your account information directly within the app, and manage notification and location permissions through your device settings.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
